Dr. Sergio Capareda, Ph.D., P.E.

As a private consultant, Dr. Capareda brings extensive experience, insight, and direction to Circon Energy in the fields of science and technology.

 

He currently serves as the Head of the Bio Energy Testing and Analysis Laboratory at Texas A&M AgriLife Research and as Professor and Faculty Fellow for the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at Texas A&M University. He authored two textbooks entitled “Introduction to Biomass Energy Conversions” and “Introduction to Renewable Energy Conversion” published by CRC Press, Taylor and Francis Group, Boca Raton Florida. These textbooks are the foundation for the undergraduate and graduate course in renewable energy conversions at the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department (BAEN) as well as a graduate course organized by the Energy Institute of College of Engineering at Texas A&M University.  

 

An award-winning scientist, Dr. Capareda has authored more than 117 refereed journal articles in the field of biofuels conversion, particularly pyrolysis and gasification, air quality and waste management, and holds two US Patents related to biofuel production and thermal conversion for biomass feedstock. He has helped build commercial gasification systems for private companies in Texas and Nebraska.

 

At home, Dr. Capareda devotes most of his time to cooking and maintaining his own vegetable garden. After retiring from his former faculty position at the University of the Philippines in Los Baños, he achieved a personal goal of building his dream house in the Philippines before turning 45. He is also a dedicated partner of Compassion International, supporting a college student in the Philippines.
