Mary is a chartered accountant and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. 

She has over 30 years experience of working in audit and transaction support for EY in London, and overseas, including in the Former Soviet Union (Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Russia and Ukraine) and in the Middle East (UAE). Mary’s duties include service as an Independent Advisor to Circon Energy LLC and as a member of the Board of Directors of Circon Energy Spanish Company, SL.

For most of her career, Mary specialised in extractive industries, providing audit and assurance related services to our oil and gas, chemicals and mining clients.  She has significant experience of International, UK and US reporting standards, as well as production sharing, concession and other specific agreement based requirements.  She has also led a number of due diligence projects related to acquisitions in the oil and gas, steel, copper and coal mining sectors, and has advised market entrants in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkmenistan in respect of local taxation and accounting rules; she has also advised our oil and gas clients in the United Arab Emirates, in connection with their concession arrangements with the government of Abu Dhabi. 

Most recently, Mary worked in Portugal, and was audit partner for an SEC listed client with oil and gas operations in Angola. Latterly, she also held responsibility for the country’s risk management and independence procedures, overseeing the practice’s compliance with our global policies and procedures.

Mary brings a wealth of experience in the energy sector and in emerging markets, and her financial audit and due diligence experience is an invaluable addition to Circon’s diverse management expertise.
